  • Assigned client Construction Junction, a local Pittsburgh company that accepts donations and promotes conservation through reusing materials

  • Completed within 3 weeks

Problem Statement

“I got turned away because I missed the small details saying that they weren’t accepting sofas.”

The tedious procedure and confusing website slows down the item donations process

Construction Junction Employee

“Every time a customer calls to donate, I have to go through a long list of criteria with them.

Pittsburgh Residents

Through talking to the stakeholders and looking through the CJ website, I discovered that the dense text of donation criteria and the back and forth calls between the employees and customers results in a bottleneck for the company.

The Solution

Streamlines the item donation procedure with the use of AI technology

  • Cross-checks with CJ’s list of accepted items at the moment

  • Provides guidance on what to do next

AI Analysis and Feedback

  • Automatically assess condition of the item by analyzing submitted photos using AI

  • Provides feedback to help customers quickly fill in on much the criteria

Schedule pick-ups with simple clicks

  • Notifies users when the request is approved

  • Shows available times for furniture pick-up
